Halloween, PJs and Work

So I spent Halloween this year while working. To be honest I forgot it was Halloween. The moment I arrived, my colleague passed me a set of pyjamas to change into.

That’s me, in blue PJs.

A customer asked if we were dressing up as “mental patients”. On hindsight we really did look like escapees from a mental institution!

Xmas eve is approaching… I wonder what they’ll make us wear next?

I also had time to meet Angmoh for lunch in school (gasp! we hardly hung out in year 1 and 2 haha) We’re taking this module called Sociology of Food together so I’ll be seeing her for the next 10 weeks at least. Hahaha she’s still the same funny Angmoh I knew in jc.

today marks the first day of my third year in college. I wanted to stay in bed all day; the rainy weather was just lovely to sleep in. I was having a splendid dream too.. (can’t recall now that I try). Somehow I managed to drag myself out of bed. I didn’t bother dressing up (jaded year 3 student…) sorry for tardy first impressions. But I don’t really care, I was rather put off by the unfamiliar faces in school to be honest………..

more importantly…. I’m REALLY looking forward to work after class tomorrow. Best bunch of colleagues ever :)

When someone you know (albeit not very well) passes, it inevitably leaves a mark on you. You start thinking of all the past encounters you shared… pity you didn’t get to know him better as a friend before he left this world. But who could have known? You learn day by day, that life is as unpredictable as the people who live life themselves.

Hello! That’s me and Tony Tony Chopper at Uniqlo.

I knew he’s a character from One Piece but I didn’t know his name so I googled it! Isn’t it cute how we use “google” and “googled” as verbs?

According to http://www.onepiecehq.com/content/tony-tony-chopper.html, Tony Tony Chopper (TTC for short) is a reindeer and doctor and he’s supposed to be 172cm. If you check out TTC in the photo, he’s way taller than me. I’m 174 cm tall by the way. I guess they upsized him to look cuter! (Stuffed thingys always look cuter when they’re huge, no?) There was also a sign on him that says ‘please do not touch’ but I touched it. Squishy :)

P.S. I like his nose. It’s blue by the way, if you haven’t noticed.

Hey there! I know I disappeared for quite some time but it’s the holidays and I’m bored on a Tuesday afternoon so here I am. Anyways I don’t know if it’s true but I heard from my sister that some of her friends are stalking this space so hello! (to whoever you are).

Yesterday was a challenging day for me. The past few tuition experiences haven’t been going well. When I accepted the tuition assignment I wasn’t sure what I was in for but I thought to myself, surely I can handle a 16 year old kid? A few months have gone by and I’m still at a loss as to how to help this boy. Maybe he’s undergoing teenage angst but I can’t stand his attitude sometimes. I always get mad thinking about how hard his parents have worked to earn money to pay for his tuition fees and how nonchalant he is about it. This is blood, sweat and tears we’re talking about. Mad at him but even madder at myself. I cannot take this lying down. I don’t wish to accept money from his parents just for spending 2 hours at his home and then leaving, as though whatever happens afterwards has nothing to do with me.

I think I’ve gotten a deeper understanding of what being a “teacher” encompasses.
